Scott anuncia nuevo diseño para 2007 !
Scott moving forward with new design !
After deciding to stop fighting Specialized over the FSR patents, Scott USA will take the momentum it built with its Ransom trail bike and focus on something new - a new cross-country bike, to be precise.
The company plans to develop a new full-suspension cross-country design for 2007, filling the three- to five-inch suspension void left by the Genius' conflict with Specialized's patents.
"We've learned a considerable amount with the Ransom project, which is evidenced with our Equalizer shock concept boasting five unique patents," said Adrian Montgomery, Scott's bicycles PR director, in a press release. "The shock design has even gained interest from the auto industry for its advanced innovative function.
"We also have excellent supply from our factory and ample carbon manufacturing capacity, which puts us in a position to deliver. We are not fazed by this decision [Specialized]; in fact, it represents an opportunity for us to introduce, sooner than scheduled, another breakthrough design to improve the current state of the art in mountain bike suspension."
Who will reap the benefits? Well, for starters, the Ford Women's Cycling Team. The team will be headed by Kelli Emmett, one of the few American women set to take on the World Cup circuit in its entirety. Sara Bresnick-Zocchi, Kathy Sherwin and Melanie Meyers fill the rest of the roster. Chris Davidson and Chris Magerl will provide management and technical support.
"I can't explain how excited I am to be working with Scott next year," said Emmett. "Since we started working with Adrian Montgomery at Scott we've had only positive feedback and excitement from the company. I really believe this new relationship will take Ford Cycling to the next level. I have heard only the best about their bike's weight and handling. I can't wait to try out my new Scale. Bring on the climbs and short tracks!"
Montgomery said Scott's support for the team "is a great opportunity for us to showcase our already-strong Contessa womens' line."
"Female athletes have the most to gain by lowering the overall weight of their equipment, and a 970-gram carbon frame that can be built into a sub-19-pound race bike represents significant weight savings for the girls and that will equate to better results," said Montgomery.
